People associate Canada with snow, rain, polar bears, maple syrup, and hockey. The country is famous for award-nominated singers, cultural teachers, festivals, winter sports, and its multicultural cityscape. Having a diverse society, Canada is the centre of universe for some people and a country without a core culture for others. At the same time, Canada is a multicultural experiment that turned out successful. Many non-for-profits, volunteers, and agencies work to accommodate diversity and help immigrants to become citizens. Russian, German, Japanese, Portuguese, Arabic… This is a country of hundreds of languages. There are multiple identities, belief systems, and values in a country that cherishes diversity. Some believe that there is a void in the center, but Canada’s multiculturalism is about a more inclusive definition of what society is. And whether Canada is about smog, maple syrup, or mountains is part of people’s ideas what the country means to them.
