You check your email and facebook account before you have coffee in the morning. And you would rather spend a night in jail or have a root canal than give up your facebook and twitter profile. Or you just learned how to turn on that computer thing?
According to a new survey, 40 percent of respondents would rather do their taxes than part with their social media profiles. And marketers are aware of this. The infographic shows that 91 percent of them use social media campaigns to improve their website traffic, and 79 percent are successful in generating quality leads.
Why is that? Some users promote other people’s blogs and websites for free. They check in on Foursquare when going to the mall, the gas station, the bakery, bathroom, and the bar that only 2 other people know about (the owner and the waitress). Or you created a facebook account for your dog, although you are not fully convinced “she” can speak? If she could, she would probably tell you to erase the profile and get a life.
Back to social media marketers. If facebook were to become a country, it would be one of the world’s largest. And while you are chatting, discussing, voting, and seeking advice, the goal of social media marketers is to monitor visitor behavior, analyze trends, respond, and ultimately influence purchasing decisions. Marketers create online communities, interact with visitors, and try to influence their mindset and behavior. Then they start selling products, services, and dreams. So, how about deleting your facebook account (and pet’s profile)?
